Heather
MOSAIC ARTIST AND TEACHER – Owner of Amayz Mosaics

Introducing Heather, a mosaic artist whose creative journey mirrors a stunning mosaic itself, blending vibrant hues, intricate designs, and diverse textures, all inspired by her profound love for nature, geometry, and cultural experiences from her travels.

Heather draws inspiration from iconic works like Gaudi’s masterpieces in Barcelona and the ancient Turkish mosaics of Sardis and Ephesus, infusing her own pieces with architectural brilliance and historical narratives.

With over 30 years of teaching experience, Heather not only imparts her technical skills but also shares her deep passion for mosaic art, nurturing aspiring enthusiasts into skilled artisans. Her mosaics transcend mere static pieces, becoming living testaments to the beauty of the natural world, the elegance of geometry, and the timeless language of art.

A fascinating anecdote about Heather: In 2019, she was commissioned by the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival Committee to embellish the concrete base beneath a remarkable 500 kg stone pumpkin, meticulously carved from a single block of Indonesian greenstone and situated in Goomeri’s market square. This ambitious mosaic project, which took about 10 weeks to complete, continues to captivate and delight numerous visitors to this day.
